What a week it's been for Jon!

Well, it's been quite a wonderful week for Jon. Jon is my seldom heard about oldest child. He is a really mellow, easy going guy who doesn't make a lot of trouble.....hence the never really hearing about him! He's had one heck of a week this last week. It started on Wednesday when he challenged Tommy. Tommy is the girl who holds the title of "first chair Trumpet player" in their 6th grade band. Well, Jon is a bit of a perfectionist and also....second chair! He has challenged Tommy 3 times already and lost by a matter of mere points. He has only played trumpet for 1 year and this is the first year he's had band daily. Tommy takes private lessons and her older brother has mastered trumpet already. Well, Jon lost on the challenge on Wed by 2 points so what does he do? He rechallenges her for Friday! So, Friday rolls around and he WINS! Yahoo! He was so excited. Of course, Tommy challenged him for tomorrow so this could be a real back and forth thing for awhile. But, he's really excited. Next bit of exitement comes Saturday. It's the last football game of the season. The second championship game. There are only 4 teams in our league and going into the playoffs, we were in 4th place. Not surprising because it was a rough season. Well, the first playoff game, we won! So, that put us in a position to come in 1st or 2nd. Can you guess where I'm going with this? YEP, the boys WON! It was such an exciting game. This was the first game where Jon really KNEW he could take people down. He's the tallest on his team and super fast and he played a great game. I watched him tackle player after player. He was so focused! I was so proud of him. So, the Eagles won the championship! What a way to end our first season of football. It was super exciting. The icing on the cake came in the mail on Saturday afternoon. Jon's report card. He worked really hard this quarter. It was a big change, going into middle school. He's kept on top of everything. I never have to remind him to do homework or anything school related. He's so responsible and I'm so proud of him. He got 4 A's and 2 B's! 3.67 GPA! I took him out to a movie to celebrate. He's really growing up. I asked him if he's going to want to miss school to see the new Harry Potter movie. (we did that once! LOL) and he answered me, "No, we can see it after. I think school's more important and I really want to try to get a 4.0 for semester grades") I'm so proud!
