Tucker is being more irritating than words can actually describe lately. He's going to be 9 in May and I think he is THE biggest baby right now! It's driving me absolutely batty that the kid can't seem to remember a thing from one minute to the next. He CANNOT remember to stay out of Jake's room (even though he ALWAYS gets hurt) He can't remember that the work page I gave him for the past two days IS actual homework and he WILL have a consequence for not doing it. He WHINES constantly which is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. He is SO good at playing the victim. Either he's being victimized by someone (poor baby) or he's brutally victimizing someone. (usually Tanner) This morning, I find that he didn't do his word work AGAIN! I saw the blank page lying on the coffee table! UGH! SO, he's told that it MUST be completed before he goes to school. He tells me, "well, I'll be late then." SO WHAT?! He immediately goes into his room and hits Tanner in the face! Poor Tanner WAS sleeping! I don't know WHAT in the world I'm going to do with Tucker. He's singlehandedly driving me crazy! Any suggestions on how to make an "I forgot" kind of a kid a little less forgetful? He's really killing me!

I don't have any advice, but I have some similar issues with my 7 year old.

That is happening at our house with my five year old. I have a degree in education with an emphasis in behavior disorders, yet I am having a hard time stepping away from it and seeing it objectively since it's my own kid.

Part of me believes it is typical boy/young kid behavior yet another part of me thinks there is an underlying reason behind it all, but I relate to your frustration.

This week I started Jacob on a contract, very detailed contract/job list that spells out EVERYTHING he is to do in the course of day right down to brushing his teeth. He gets a sticker on the chart if he does those things without being told more than once. He has lost all tv, nintendo, and computer priveliges and each sticker on chart earns him a ticket he can cash in for ten min. of time. It worked pretty well the first two days but yesterday he did nothing. Good luck, hope that paper gets done!
