Odd....

I was reading this story just a bit ago. I find it to be somewhat strange. What do you think? I mean, I guess I could see how it could benefit the child in some ways to not be stereotyped boy or girl it just seems so strange to me though. PLUS, why don't they add a picture of the kid? I wanna see him/her!

While they might be avoiding a "gender" stereotype, they're placing a "weird" label in it's place.

Maybe the "tot" is a boy/girl. (There's a technical name for the babies born with both genders.) So maybe they aren't sure what to decide about either....hmmm.

Hi! first-time commenter...I like your blog! I don't know how you care for FIVE BOYS! WOW.

About the article...it is a little strange. The thing is, that baby has a penis or a vagina--he or she is one or the other! (Or maybe both..who knows?) Boys and girls ARE different, so I think that that shouldn't be a bad thing. We should embrace our gender differences! I understand not wanting a boy to think he's cool just because he plays with toys or a girl to think she's cute in her dresses, but still. Boys and girls--even if you take away cars and dresses--are very different.
