When you've got a 6 pack of boys, everyday is a PARTY! How, you ask, do I manage to stay so sane? That, my friends, is only an illusion......

What a day!
Yesterday was quite an eventful day. Jake was claiming to be sick all morning as we got ready. This never makes for an easy morn! We got to school and I reminded him that if he gives it a try and is indeed sick, the nurse will call me and I'll come get him. Guess what? The nurse called! He's been feeling sort of nauseous from his meds lately and now with the lovely weather changes, his allergies are kicking in and giving him a real run for his money. Of course, with allergies comes his seasonal asthma! UGH. Basically, he was coughing up a storm in class to the point where he was having a hard time catching his breath. I must say, I'm not real thrilled with his teacher at this point. I KNOW Jake is a difficult kid....BUT, she really seems to have no empathy! She's short tempered with him and I just don't really like her already. I know Jake has a tendency to be a bit overly dramatic (it's part of his charm!) BUT, he's been telling me stories from class..... He hurt his leg in PE and was limping in class and she told him to "cut it out" Didn't bother asking what happened! She made him get several drinks of water yesterday during the cough-fest and then sent him to the library! I asked why and he said, "I don't know, I guess I was bugging her."!!!!!!! He told her that he didn't want to go by himself to the library and he started crying! (poor guy) So, he walked out of the classroom and went to the office instead where they called me....This is the same teacher who emailed me last week to let me know that Jake had some missing assignments and got defiant when sent to study hall during recess! Gee, you would almost think that my having told her of his Bipolar issues and other health concerns would have meant she would have a greater understanding of Jake and be better equipped to deal with him effectively....NOPE! Apparently, all that's happened is she's already formed a negative opinion about him. I am so ticked off. This boy has an immediate disadvantage already and now with an uncaring teacher......He tells me that she won't even help him in class! He asks for help and she tells him to figure it out! I have a meeting set up for tomorrow......she's going to get an earful!

thats really pathetic... education staff with a refusal to pay attention to details really piss me off these days....
she deserves an earful.
if you don't care about kids, why teach? we all know the alluring part is not the money
You know, I was talking to Jared about it last night (dh) and I really think that Jake does tend to overexaggerate but HEY, bottom line is, he feels like this teacher hates him! That's a horrible thing to feel as you go off to school each day. It's her JOB to let him know she cares about him. IMO anyway. I think that if I didn't care about someone, I wouldn't bother teaching them anything! BUT, it's her JOB! Oh yeah, she's definitely deserving of an earful. I'll post later and let you know how it went!
