When you've got a 6 pack of boys, everyday is a PARTY! How, you ask, do I manage to stay so sane? That, my friends, is only an illusion......

My life....modified
Well, I had 2 IEPs to attend yesterday. It's so frustrating for me to sit through meetings where I'm being told that my boys are exceptional, they just don't want to do the work! Tucker was recently tested and his scores came back much higher than average. In the classroom, he tests like a kindergartner (he's in 2nd!) Jake is highly intelligent as well but is he doing the 4th grade work? NO! They are both refusing! So, we are talking about placing them in special education. Now, this is not something that any parent ever thinks they will be pushing for. "Please, I just hope my boys can get into the special ed classes!" I find myself thinking this daily. I really do think it would be in their best interest to be in one of these classrooms. They would have, first and foremost, a teacher who is trained to teach children with issues....someone with a very positive attitude. There would also be far less students in the class so my boys would be getting a lot of personal attention. They spend so much of their time now at school, seeking attention from their teachers. They don't have the special placement yet, we will sort that all out after they try a couple of things first. Here's what they want to do.....since the boys seem to have more troubles in the afternoons, they are modifying their school day. The boys will go to school from 8:15-11:30. They are getting a behavior specialist in to observe and work with the boys to try to get them performing. I am doubtful that this will work with them. Tucker honestly doesn't seem to give a spit what happens to him and Jake really dislikes his teacher (and it's obvious she dislikes him!) I don't think he'll be willing to do anything for her. He's pretty intuitive when it comes to how people feel about him......the school should know this, they've already discovered my boys are "highly intelligent". So, my life is everchanging. I sometimes wish I were the one changing it instead of it being changed "for" me but oh well, I'll just go with it....

It's weird how someone who dislikes kids would get into teaching. I pray that you can get them into a special class where a good teacher can teach them how to use their above average smarts!
oh, and we put you on our links, maybe some of our regular visitors will pop by!
talk to you later
