Jake's big day

Well, Jake's big day has come and gone. On Monday 3.1.06, my baby turned 10! YEP, double digits! I was going to take him to the city with me (San Francisco) as Tanner had an audition for modeling. Jake ALWAYS wants to go whenever Tanner has something to do. So, I made arrangements for Tucker and Jon for after school and I was planning on picking up Jake early from school to head on out. We would ride BART out and then make sort of a fun day out of it and return home for a Jake's request meal. Well, Monday morning comes around and I was desperate for something to get Jake moving in the morning. He's not a real early riser and for some reason, can't seem to get going in the morning. He really just looks like he needs a healthy dose of coffee! So, I mentioned to him that he needed to get dressed so he could get to school. I told him that I'd be picking him up early for a fun trip to SF! Well, he really surprised me with his next comment...."Why would I want to go there?" Ok, scratch that! I called in to say Tanner wouldn't be auditioning and sat, stunned. I really thought he would love that plan. He never ceases to amaze me. Then, he started complaining that on JON'S 10th Bday, HE got to go to lunch and a movie. Well, Jon was a totally different kid and the whole family situation allowed for that to happen on Jon's bday. Needless to say, the morning didn't go as well as I wanted it to. After school, I asked him what he wanted to do....what would make his day special.... He decided that he wanted to go to dinner and a movie. So, I ended up taking him out for the evening. We had mexican food and saw The Pink Panther. Not a very good movie, but we had fun. I still feel like he was disappointed by his big day but you know, he's really hard to please. Sunday evening when we were talking about SF, he was excited!
