Grrr

Jake is now refusing to take his meds! Will the fun never stop?!?! He woke up, not on the wrong side of the bed but in the wrong room entirely. His mood is stinky as can be. He is complaining about his poison oak that he has on the inside of his elbow. He was building a fort in a field all weekend, what did he think was going to happen? So, of course with poison oak and all, he doesn't think he should go to school. I gave him Benadryl after verifying that, yes, he can still take that with his other meds, and then he FLAT OUT REFUSED to take his bipolar meds! This is a first so I didn't know quite how to handle it. I ended up keeping him home. I didn't really think it fair to subject his teacher to the foulness that is Jake today. I put in a call to his doc about his refusal, I don't know how to handle this. I know that antipsychotic meds aren't something to be trifled with..... I'm hoping she can give me some good advice. Until then, I am homebound because I told him that if he didn't go to school, he'd be spending the whole day IN his room. Not playing with his little brother or having a free day watching cartoons but actually IN his room, hopefully bored to tears and swearing that he will take his meds tomorrow. I know his reason, they make him tired. Yes, that's probably annoying for him but geesh, his teacher is aware of the side affect so he shouldn't worry. I guess maybe it's embarrassing for him to be falling asleep in class in front of everyone but he NEEDS to go to school. Maybe the doc will be able to give him something to help keep him awake during the day? We shall see!

Hey Dana,
thats a crazy thing, trying to figure out the meds. I know Jake's are on a compeltely different level, but Debra was diagnosed with anxiety/depression a couple years ago, it took a long time to find the right meds that would work. The first two we tried worked for a while, then suddenly quit!! it was really frustrating. oh, and thanks for the link!! ttyl.
