If you need me, I'll be under a rock....

Today has been a series of unfortunate events for me. I may have been better off just staying in bed.... Not only did my car....RUN OUT OF GAS...but once I got some fuel into the gas guzzling beast, the battery was dead! From what?! The hazards? Cuz that's all that was on! Yes, I ran out of gas! UGH! I felt about 17....I actually ran out in plain view of the gas station! The gas station whose driveway I passed by because feeling less than 100% makes me somewhat of a scatterbrain! My cars gas gauge is screwy...I don't make a habit out of this sort of thing. It's amazing though, how many people STILL drove right up behind me....ignoring my hazard lights and then proceeded to honk at me and make less than friendly hand gestures! YEAH! Because me making them 2 seconds behind on their day makes their day worse than mine?! Impatient terds! I felt like giving them a friendly wave of my own but didn't. (I didn't want any MORE bad karma!) So, my mom came to my rescue with gas and then Carlos (who I met just today) was my knight in shining armor with jumper cables. Thank you Carlos! I proceeded to the gas station to fill er up only to be yelled at by a rotund balding man because my car was at an awkward angle. Hey, the gas station guy told me to move up....I was under NO illusions that my huge suv would fit at all well into the spot he wanted me in but he insisted....so I moved. THEN, my card was doing crazy things and I had to run it through again because it was threatening to NOT work. It finally went through but I was on the verge of tears at this point. Once I got my car filled, I went to jump on in and my panic alarm goes off, you know, the one on your automatic door remote. LOVELY! I didn't even touch it! I tried for several minutes to turn it off but...it didn't wanna be off! Finally, I managed to silence it (withOUT running it over!) The rest of the day has been a blur. I had such a bad ear ache this morning that I had taken Sudafed. Non drowsy my ass! I think I should've stayed in bed today!

you know, it's actually kind of scary how similar this sounds to my days.

makes you want to go to bed for about a year and wake up and pretend the previous year never happened.

Happy SITS day! Even though I already said that, after reading this post, I think it bears repeating.

Happy Sists Day!! Wow, what a day. I would have been crying at this day. That remote alarm happened to me with a newborn. I was stressing cuz, I could not shut it off and no one was helping me. I was at the babies doctors office. Couldn't they come out and tell me, it was going to be okay and help me. Geez, people can be jerks

Brandy said...

I ran out of gas about two feet away from the pump; how's that for embarrassing?!

Thankfully the gas attendants helped push my car to the pump.

When I hear about days like this I always think about Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. That doesn't come to mind on my bad days though, at least not at the time!

Just for the record: your word verification hates me.

Oh man, what a bad day! I actually had one of those one time. After work I went to go start my Durango (it was about 20 below zero that day) and it wouldn't start. Finally it started, but the gas gauge was on empty! How did that happen?!! I had to have a co-worker drive me all over town to find a gas container because every store was sold out! We finally got some gas put into the gas tank and I was a half hour late picking up my son because of the ordeal and the babysitter was more than a little peeved. I told her I had "car trouble!"

Oh, and G-d bless you for having so many children.

Katie said...

Wow! Those days are hard to recover from!! Oh well...I mean, at least you had something fun to blog about!! :)

Happy SITS day!

Ohhhh I have had those kinds of days. Painful, neverending, horrible days like those. Here's hoping it is the last one for you for a long while!

cornnut32 said...

oh man! that seriously stinks.

i echo your sentiment on people that pull up behind you when your hazards are on! i am always amazed at how RUDE people are. a few years ago (i was 18) i spent a summer in san diego, working. the DAY i got there, i had a tire blow out on the freeway. they were doing construction so there was no shoulder for me to pull over on. i got in the far right lane and turned on my hazards, then crawled out my drivers side door, over the k-rails and into the construction area to call 911. i had no clue where i was, and my aunt (who i was living with) was on vacation. i was hysterically bawling--and had FIVE people honk, yell, curse, and make obscene gestures at me. i couldn't believe it. not a single person tried to find out if i was okay. a cop showed up to wait for the tow truck with me, and he didn't get out of his car, roll down his window, or say a single word to me.

i felt like "waving" myself, but also restrained.

and i think staying in bed is ALWAYS a viable option. :)

Ahh, I have had days like this before... At least you're not alone!

I probably would have been less polite with the bald man and the hand-gesturers, had I been you. :D

Hope today is much better... Happy SITS day!

Happy SITS day! At least those kind of days come along few and far between.

augh, what a day! Reminded me of my own break downs and why are ppl so rude when they can see clearly you're not trying to hold anyone up on purpose, that the car is DEAD. ugh. When this happens, makes me want to make up for the mistake of getting up and instead spend the next DAY in bed.

Anonymous said...

What a day! You know what "they" say, "When it rains, it pours". I've had several of those days too. Luckily we get to have a good day every once in awhile too. For instance today is a good day because it's you SITS day! YAY!

Rhea said...

This is the kind of day that would send me over the edge, I hear ya.

When people honk or yell or make rude gestures at me, I give a huge smile and wave. It pisses them off BIG time.

The Boss Lady said...

I've had so many of those days, it's unreal. I usually just try to keep it all in perspective and realize there are people with far worse problems than mine in the world...but I usually end up cussing out a stranger on the freeway and screaming at Hubs for no reason. That works too. :)

Happy SITS Day!

Running out of gas is only slightly less embarrassing than your car battery dying because you left the lights on. (Totally speaking from experience - oops!)

Hope you're having a better day today.

Bless your heart! I was low on fuel one day and the car quit on me- I thought I had run out and was feeling pretty jackass. Then we figured out it was the fuel pump. Still, with all the kids in the car... yeah, it wasn't pretty.

Oh man, running out of gas is one of my worst nightmares! I always push it juuuuuust far enough. Have you ever seen the Seifeld episode where Cramer wants to see how far he can get without refilling.

I guess it's funnier when it's on tv. :( I bet it hasn't happened since!
