what a meatball!

As most of you know, Brennen is a real funny guy. Well, he definitely keeps me on my toes and rolling on the floor. Last night, he was just not ready for bed even though mommy was insisting that it was time. At one point, he started singing, "go to sleep, go to sleep..." When I took his cue and sang along with him, I got a bit told off! Yes, by a two year old. "Stop it Mommy! No singing!" Oh, ok, so that's how you are! Not long after that, he looked over at big brother Jon and yelled, "NO Jon, that MY blankie!" He was miffed at Jon, who DARED to cover up with BRENNEN'S blanket! Needless to say, Jon went cold rather than deal with the wrath of an angry small fry. Soon enough, I heard some muffled snoring coming from the lil firecracker. Sure enough, he was FAKE sleeping! I could not believe my ears, he was all balled up and cozy like he usually sleeps, only he was just pretending! And, the fake snoring? It was very well done! I told Jared, "Oh good, he's FINALLY asleep, now we can have ice cream" "Yeah, and candy," added Jared. Well, Brennen's lil head popped up so fast! Man, I was cracking up. Before he pulled the sleeping stunt, he was crying. I told him to stop crying and it was like he simply turned a switch off and stopped. I thought it was funny so I told him to cry again. He did, complete with red nose and crybaby face. Stop! He did. Cry! Stop! I swear, he's going to Hollywood someday because this kid is a great actor!

Brennen and the blueberry

So, the other morning, Jared made the boys' favorite breakfast....thin pancakes. It's an old family recipe and they are wonderful. They're sort of like crepes and we put a bit of sugar, some berries and cream inside and roll em up. Well Brennen's favorite part by far are the blueberries. He eats them as quickly as he can and asks for more. He's a blueberry fiend, really. Well, this time he tried something a bit different.

"Mom, it in my nose"
"What honey? What about your nose?"
"It in my nose mom"

He sounded sort of stuffy and he WAS picking at his nose so I tilted his head back to take a peak. Sure enough, I see the telltale color......

He'd shoved a BLUEBERRY up his nose! Luckily he was able to blow hard enough to launch it out! YIKES! Why do kids DO these things? Stranger still.....why is he my FIRST to ever stick something up his nose? I would've thought for sure that Tanner would be all over that trick!

Brennen continually tried to shove more blueberries up his schnoz after that. Needless to say, he didn't get anymore blueberries and he decided he was done with breakfast. Actually, his exact words (after being denied more berries) were
"I HATE breakfast!"

Yep, that's his latest, if he doesn't get his way. OH, the drama!

nonstop talking....

Brennen's speech was already really amazing but lately, he's really taken off talking. He's speaking in full sentences and makes so much sense. It's scary how logically thinking he is....He may be more reasonable than all the others put together. Here are a few of our recent conversations and a funny story....

The other night, Brennen and I were sharing a bit of ice cream. He noticed rather quickly that a bit dripped on my sweatshirt....
"Jake, get a towel, Mommy's dripping!"
He was frantic for that dang towel. Jake asked, "what should I do?"
"Geesh, get the boy a towel!"
He did and Brennen went right to work rubbing that spot out!

Last night as we snuggled in my bed (yes, MY bed....don't ask!) Brennen (who has to wrap his arms around me somehow) leaned over and said, "I yuv you Mommy."
"You love me?"
"Yep! You a good boy."
"I'm a good boy?"
"ah, yeah"
"Oh, you're a good boy too honey"

Every morning when Brennen first wakes up and comes upstairs, he makes it a point to say hello to each and every brother....TOO cute!

Now for the story....it's a gross one.
Last night, Brennen came walking over to the couch, climbed up on my lap and proceeded to put something in his mouth. I wasn't really paying attention to what it was as the boys are always giving him treats. Well, when he started spitting it out and telling me it was yucky, I checked out what it was......
Note: Bunny poo does NOT taste as good as it looks!
Yes, I know, so gross! I gave him a huge glass of water to drink and brushed his teeth. So far, he's not too sick!

His muse....

Hurley definitely gets Brennen's creative juices flowing. Brennen has discovered that Hurley is a perfect seat. He is comfy and quiet when sat upon! He doesn't get at all upset when you gently kick him. NO, he just sits there. He has given Brennen fabulous ideas about where to put his unwanted apple peels. He's given Brennen the creative spark that helped him make a fine paste out of rabbit food, water, and those apple peels. He's given him a job....must empty out the bag of rabbit food....all over the cage! He's also given Brennen some ideas that weren't as great as originally thought to be.......

Yes, he was IN the cage with Hurley. I'm not sure how he got in there but he was calling..."Mommy! Help" and what did I do when I saw him? Did I race over to save my troubled child? Oh no, I ran to get my camera and then (salt in the wound) called all his brothers to see him! I'm a bad mom!

Oh poo!

A couple days ago, I was trying to interest Brennen in a trip n try to the toilet. He politely declined my offer but continued to toot. I thought, oh well.... 5 minutes later, I told the kids to get their suits on since it was really just too hot in the house and we were going to take a quick dip. Brennen was SO excited to go swimming. He ran over and got a swim diaper for me. It was pretty dark in our house since I've been keeping all the shades down on the windows to help cut the heat....so when I saw the little "discoloration" in his diaper, I simply wiped his bottom before putting his swim diaper on. We had a lovely time in the pool. It was so refreshing yet oh too brief. I had to take Jon to his girlfriend's house (YES, he has one! That'll have to be a different post) Jake was, as usual, being a terd. What happened next really let me know that, karmically speaking, the planets are aligned just right....

Jake: What the H@LL?!?!? Who CRAPPED on the floor? Oh MAN! I just STEPPED in it!
me: Well, I guess someone's trying to tell you that maybe you should be a little nicer...(giggling the whole time)

He was FURIOUS! Apparently that discoloration I had noticed in the diaper had come from a bit more than a little toot. I swear though, I didn't notice anything falling out of the diaper! I mean, seriously, I know my house is a mess and all......5 boys!....but I'm not one to knowingly leave a terd lying on the floor! I just thought it was poetic justice...the only thing funnier would have been if he laid down to watch tv......
Ok, I guess that's just mean! LOL
